Red wine trail

Here you can look over the vintager‘s shoulder as he‘s harvesting the
grapes. There you can watch many busy hands at work. What you always
wanted to know about grape harvest…? A conversation with the experts
at the vineyard provides all the information. The Ahr Valley‘s Red
Wine Trail makes it possible.
Splendid outings right through the vineyard terraces of the red wine
paradise don‘t just offer fantastic vistas. They also provide an
insight into one of Germany‘s most famous red wine growing areas. The
route through the „paradise of the red grapes“ is also an educational
tour on the spot.
The picturesque walk leads from Altenahr to Bad
Bodendorf, is 35 kilometres long and connects the wine villages
overlooking the romantic scenery of the Ahr riverbed.
All of those villages are directly accessible from the trail which was
opened in 1972. If you want to enjoy a quarter-litre on your way or
take a rest, a descent trail leads you to the wine village of your
choice. Snug wine taverns, great wine cellars and famous cooperatives
are waiting there for ramblers and wine connoisseurs. And for those
who prefer walking directly along the Ahr, a well-built counterpart is
winding its way through partly unspoilt nature on the other side of
the river.
