The Ahr Valley cycle trail
Cycling and enjoying yourself at Ahr, Rhine and Eifel
Wildly romantic riverside, rugged rock formations, deeply green forests and untouched meadows.
The picturesque cycle path of the Ahr-Rhine-Eifel region meanders
right through the exciting landscape of the Ahr Valley. The tour of
about 80 kilometres begins at the Ahr estuary near Barbarossa‘s town
Sinzig and continues right through the Ahr Valley‘s red wine paradise
up to Blankenheim, where the Rhine‘s headstrong tributary rises from.
The cycle trail along the Ahr is manageable for leisure cyclists
without difficulty. It partly leads over well-built cycle tracks,
partly over paved or reinforced forest paths - and all the way
alongside the Ahr. In the upper Ahr Valley one has to cross the road a
few times.

However, the cycle trail‘s extension is already being planned. And: If
you like your trip to be more comfortable, for a few stops you may hop
on the train which winds itself through the valley at a leisurely
speed once in every hour. The Ahr Valley cycle trail pre-eminently
qualifies for relaxing leisure tours as it keeps inviting cyclists to
pause and take in and enjoy the scenery again and again. Every cyclist
should absolutely allow for a side trip to one of the homey temporary
wine bars and estates in the small wine villages between Bad Neuenahr-
Ahrweiler and Altenahr.
By the way: The Ahr Valley cycle trail through the Ahr-Rhine-Eifel
holiday region is one of many marvellous routes. The acknowledged
cycle path network of more than 1000 kilometres offers the right trail
for every possible taste and demand.
